Continuing with today’s theme of pieces and designes inspired by ‘Mother Nature’ herself, the next thing I bring to you is a collection of wallpapers designed for Phyllis Morris. A beautiful selection of print wallpapers ranging from blossoms, branches, peacock, to butterflies, this array of coverings offer bold and beautiful options which could bring any space to life! One particular and new addition to the collection is the metallic butterfly collection; Jamie Adler’s Butterflies.

Here is a little more information of this Californian-based company and their newest addition:

Wall-coverings in the series of Jamie Adler’s Butterflies feature grille motif of winged creatures, superimposed on matte gold or matte silver paper. Phyllis Morris has designed this new range for those who consider paint as outdated to adorn the walls. The new collection is particularly suitable for a signature wall. The pattern covers a 46-inch width with a 72-inch vertical repeat, which allows for large-scale installations. The butterflies in this Phyllis Morris wall-covering series can also be custom-coloured to match any décor.

As you probably already realized, wallpaper is a not so secret passion of mine…..I love how it is such a relatively inexpensive way to add so much more to a room! I was at the one of the fabric showrooms this morning and came across some stunning wallpapers by the American company Schumacher. So many great designs….so little rooms! I finally got a chance to crack open the new Style At Home this afternoon. There was a small feature on this company called Trove. For those who don’t have a nice view, they offer these really pretty window films to glam up your windows. When I looked them up, I think I was more impressed with their wallpapers! They offer some really beautiful and unique designs. I think what I like most about them is the large scale repeats so that you get a more dynamic design and a more custom look to your walls! Can’t wait til the next project with wallpaper so I can use some of these!

I recently came across this new wallpaper company, Studio 465. The feature different collections inspired by cities around the world. I loved their London inspired collection. It is definitely the coolest one of the lot and I love the avant-garde feel of the wallpapers. What do you think? Love it? Hate it?

Swedish wallpaper company DecorMaison has introduced their new collection for fall; The Oasis Collection. Just as unique as the wallpaper itself, is their method of promotion of this new collection. DecorMaison has assembled and designed a variety of vintage camping trailers that showcase the wallpaper line. Creating these intriguing vignettes, the viewer has the ability to sneak a peak into a variety of spaces that bring the home to you. Now this is a marketing scheme that surely will travel wherever the road takes it!

Tattoo Your Walls!

For those of you who don’t want to commit to wallpaper but want something with a bit more pizzazz than just everyday paint, the next best thing is to get a wall tattoo. Wall tattoos are basically adhesive pictures that you can apply easily yourself and then take off when you get bored or when you need to give notice on your rented apartment! Surface Collective is a local Vancouver company who we have used in the past and they feature great trendy designs for their wall tattoos and if you are hesitant about doing the stick yourself, they also install!

At first which may seem juvenile, actually can be incorporated into a space quite elegantly with that obvious sense of humor. Personally, I feel that our spaces need that sometimes as they can become too serious and not accurately reflect our true personalities that are fun, spontaneous, and unique! The new wallpaper is called ‘Taylor & Wood Frames,’ and can be purchased for $40 per/double roll directly from Graham & Brown. Not Your Grandma’s Wallpaper…

Ah wallpaper…..its a term that brings images of vinyl-like paper with old grandma floraly patterns….alot of the time with fruit?! Well the times have definitely changed and wallpaper is now back in and with ultra cool patterns and textures. Where should wallpaper be used? Anywhere! Popular choices are headboard walls in the bedroom or on a feature wall in living rooms. The possibilities are endless! Just keep in mind that the key is definitely moderation…..even a great cool wallpaper can be overdone.
