Designer Michael Smith has recently designed some mosaic tiles for the presitious tile company Ann Sacks. I saw some of these designs in the latest House and Home and must admit I died a little. The designs are absolutely stunning but are quite steep in price……apparently they start at about $188/ square foot retail. Hmmm…..Can we say accent band?

Have been absolutely drooling over Walker Zanger tiles lately. I know that sounds funny….you’re probably thinking how exciting could tile be?! Well check out some of these pictures……the tiles are even more stunning in person. Only drawback is the pricing…..the salesperson asked me if I wanted to sit before he told me pricing……

Recycled from unlikely places such as disposed toilets, tubs, and sinks, EnivroMODE has developed a new product which is eco-friendly, durable, and very importantly; it’s beautiful. So…your trash, has in result become another’s treasure! In the process of creation, recycled porcelain material is bound with epoxy resins and can also be mixed with recycled glass. The product can then be utilized as countertops or flooring, and is manufactured in the form of slabs or rectangular tiles. This material is sure to last with its heat, stain and scratch resistance! Maintanance is even more fantastic as you only need to use neutral cleansers as the product is VOC-free and does not need to be sealed.

Ann Sacks Tile is always one of my favs…..they have such unique and cool designs! The tiles are definitely not your average tile for the budget conscious consumer. The tiles are more for making a statement in your space and making the tile the main focus of the room.

Let it Snow…in Summer!

I recently came upon an older collection Bisazza Tile had created in collaboration with Marcel Wanders; one of my favorite designers! This mosaic tile pattern entitled ‘Snowflake’ has a “dreamy” aesthetic, and is just so dynamic that I had to bring it back to the spotlight…I also found it interesting that the design was originally created for the lobby of the Rivington Hotel in the Big NYC. It’s amazing what doors large scale commercial projects can open sometimes- products such as this can be realized!

In order to achieve a unique pattern such as ‘Snowflake,’ there are a series of modules which are computer generated, and then formulated from several shades of whites and greys. The glass mosaics measure up to only 10 x 10mm, but prove to be a strong application for both commercial and residential spaces.
