I came across this and thought it was too cool not to share. Since space is such a premium in Hong Kong, architect and founder of Edge Design, Gary Chang has come up with an innovative solution for his small 330 square foot apartment. The apartment has a system of walls that move and glide for different rooms with different functions. There are a total of 24 different rooms if you can believe that?! Of the 24 rooms, there is a huge library wall, a small kitchen, a steam shower, a bedroom and even a video game room! It is nicknamed the Domestic Transformer and is amazing……

Here is a video that talks more about the space and shows it in action and of course some pics of the amazing space!

It is in the most simple of interiors where the true beauty of form, function, and design can truly prevail. When size does matter, innovation is you’re best friend! So who do we turn to when these factors come into play? Ofcourse…the Japanese! With space limited and at a premium, a large metropolitan city like Hiroshima offers-up the opportunity for unique spaces such as the one featured here to provide a new wave of design.

image from www.apartmenttherapy.com

image from www.apartmenttherapy.com

The Atago House is only 1,195 sq.ft. and just when you thought you wouldn’t be able to pack it all in, the Atago throws all the theories out of the window. Through the utilization of dynamic windows that create a fun interaction between interior & exterior, crisp whites and consistent finishes in millwork, built-in storage everywhere, and verticality; all come into play to truly push the interior to its optimal limits! Peering into this unique space through a Western cultural lens, the minimalist aspect of this interior may be a little exaggerated for most of our taste, but it’s definitely something to appreciate and admire.

Space is always at a premium! There’s never that much to go around, esspecially if you have decided to live downtown of some large metropolitan city. So, we at Kalu are always on the look-out for innovative furniture, storage solutions, and systems. Therefore, you’ll see why I fell in love with this desk as soon as I came accross it in all its glory… It’s small yet functional, innovative, and actually kind of sexy!

image from www.jonasundjonas.de

Designed by Jonas & Joans, this desk named “Wall Flower” features some quite interesting benifits; all packed into this small package! It is constructed of “HPL” also known as High Pressure Laminate which is scratch and shock resistant. Also another amazing feature is that this desk requires no screws or installation methods into the wall, it is completely stable due to four special elastic-buffers on the backside of the racks and by legs made of stainless steel.

image from www.jonasundjonas.de
