Panels by Modular Arts have been one of my long time favorite products. They are environmentally friendly wall panels made of non-toxic mineral, which can be installed directly over drywall and have a hard dense feel to them. You see them used all over town in hip bars and restaurants as wall applications. They are usually painted in cool colours and highlighted with lighting. I noticed recently that they had some designs that I had not yet seen before. Thought they were cool so wanted to share!

What are your thoughts on green paint & accents in a room? Green is a great colour to use because it is often associated with comfort and relaxation. Usually actors waiting to go on wait in a “green room” to relax.

The colour green is best suited for a living room or a bedroom but as with any colour, there are so many shades of the colour green…..use soothing soft tones for a calming bedroom and save the more electric limes for a fun living room.

The colour green offers so many possibilities while designing because there are so many great colours that it pairs nicely with!

So more than ever-today in our world- we are concerned with our actions in the present and how they impact future generations. What am I talking about? Well here come those loaded terms: Sustainability. Ecological. Green. Environmentally-Friendly…and so on. These are aspects which are also personal goals in my own life, and help guide my decisions everyday. It is also a notion I explored when participating on the television show hosted by Debbie Travis; “From the Ground Up-Season 2″ On one of the challenges, my partner and I constructed a bathroom which incorporated a toilet with its tank removed, dramatically distanced for aesthetic reasons, and then utilized as a wash basin. So when I came across this product, boy was I excited!!!

With its construction and function which are ecologically-responsible, and as a bonus has a fantastic design, is the Tlaokc Toilet. This new and innovative design features practical functions that will in result help to eliminate the wastage of water, and could be the solution in many 3rd world countries in water conservation.

We came across this banquette by the Vancouver company Pure by Ami Mckay. They were featured in one the latest Canadian House & Home magazines. We absolutely thought they were tres tres cool. The pattern is embroidered on the upholstery which comes in different colours and finishes. Even more fantastic is that they care about the environment, constructing these products from eco-friendly and green materials. It’s wonderful to see new and fresh takes on classic styles! Let us know what you think! Yay or nay?
