Glam Laundry Rooms

Since we already talked about mud rooms in our previous post and how they usually double as Laundry Rooms, I thought I’d mention Laundry Rooms and how they have changed. Remember as a kid when the laundry room was stashed away in the basement? Usually in a dingy area? Well this is a sign that times have changed! Along with the snazzy new colourful laundry machines are rooms to match. Often times now laundry rooms include lounge seating so that you can sit and wait for your laundry and some even have tv’s in the room so you can watch tv while you wait!

Take a look at some of these laundry rooms. Almost makes you want to do you laundry doesn’t it?!

Finally….a glamorous dentist office

Imagine a dentist’s office and the first thought that comes to mind if probably the usual stale decor with laminate counters and peachy colours. Well now imagine a dentist’s office that is sleek, sexy and glamorous. Sound unimaginable? Well that is what Lux Design has designed for a pair of dentists’ offices at McMaster University. Students can get their teeth cleaned “in an atmosphere of sparkle, shine, and glamour” according to designer Isabelle Glinka of Lux. Custom chandeliers are paired with Philippe Starck furniture to create a space that makes you almost want to visit the dentist!

Fireplaces are always focal points in anyone’s home, and I find that sometimes we try too hard to make them stand out and in the end it just seems so contrived, symmetrical, and sorry to say: just plain boring! We at Kalu like to offer dynamic options; layouts that have balance but as well achieve assymetry to create something more unique and intriguing.
