Our last feature is of a Resort & Spa located far from civilization to ensure your ultimate peace of mind & relaxation…The Amangiri Resort & Spa, by AMAN Resorts, located in Southern Utah.

…”Amangiri, ‘peaceful mountain’, is located in the southwest region of the USA also known as the Four Corners, where the states of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona meet. Boasting one of the most dramatic landscapes in the USA with deep canyons and towering plateaus, the region has been home for centuries to the native Navajo and Hopi tribes yet is sparsely populated and presents the raw landscape for which the American Southwest has become famous”

This stunning resort so peacefully integrates itself into the landscape that it is almost hard to pick-out with the naked eye. Taking inspiration from nature and its surroundings, this evidently became a starting point to draw inspiration for the design. Neutral & subdued tones keep a calm atmosphere and do not disrupt sweeping views of the surroundings, while playing with texture, scale, and repetition/ patterns offer a unique appeal to the interiors as well as exterior. Most importantly is the use of light both artificial and natural that become the center point for all the spaces, allowing for dynamic & dramatic moods to be created from night to day!

What would be a luxury retreat, should not have to be unaccessible or happen just a few times in your lifetime- but rather we can take tips and concepts from this design in order to incorporate into our own homes to make them more of a ‘daily retreat.’ Maybe not practical to adopt to an entire space in literal terms, but one piece of advise would be to translate some of these ideas to certain spaces such as a bedroom or bathroom. Explore how you can alter the ‘mood’ and ‘feeling’ of one of these spaces through manipulating lighting, keeping materials and color choices seamless, and allowing the design to tell a story… rather than speaking 10 conversations at a time, metaphorically speaking!
