ART – itecture

Art + Architecture are sometimes elements that go hand-in-hand. The opportunity to utilize one to inform the other allows us to explore with form, shape, pattern, scale, color etc… in a 2D or 3D format. In result a very unique piece of art or architecture can be created… such as the Mosman House realized by Rice Daubney Architects. With a very strategic and clever use of its site, this home interplays with a variety of textures and materials, while providing stunning sight-lines, views, and dynamic compositions. From every angle whether inside or out, you can easily see why this home is so captivating! Most integral to the architecture and design of this home is the use of repetition of patterns & materials, as well as the layering of the views; meaning how the architect was able to create layers of steel, glass, mesh screens, wood detailing/ and panelling to create interesting visuals from any location. Just as important is the strong architectural connection externally to internally. There is continuity and by no means is the transition abrupt. The organic feeling that is created as you enter the home provides a fantastic storyline to this experience…
