In a creative field such as the furniture design industry, it is sometimes hard to put your stamp on a design as so many things have been done in the past or somewhat explored- design is fluid and inspiration is derived from so many things: experience, nature, previous designs, etc… which are all forms of inspiration we as humans share.  So truly what is New?  Unique?  Innovative?  Well that is why the design industry, and more specfiically the furniture industry is constantly re-inventing itself, crossing new borders, broadening our minds, and utilizing new technology. 

Though, one thing we never stray from and seem to always come back to are ‘design classics!’  I’m sure you as many are familiar with the name “Charles & Ray Eames.”  It’s almost an impossible thing not to be familiar with, or atleast recognize Eames designs.  As the official prodcution manufactuer today; Herman Miller, so many of these classics can still exist in our world today!  What was relavent and cutting-edge in 1946 seems to still be true for today!  Because of this, and not to ones’ surprise, there have been many attemps; and very good ones for that matter at re-creating these designs with “artistic liscence”  such as the pieces found at Modern Reproductions.  So for this feature, I thought i’d do some ‘side-by-side’ comparisons and allow you to SPOT THE FAKE!
