Living your own Fairytale…Happily, Ever, After!

Who said grown-ups couldn’t play in “Make Belief Land” too!?!  Or did anyone even say that?  Nonetheless, sometimes as adults we sometimes forget that life doesn’t need to be consumed by a SERIOUS mood 24/7, but rather we need to sometimes find the humor in our own lives, and why not in our homes!?!  Taking inspiration from maybe more than an extreme example- a boutique hotel in Milan, Italy, we can still derive ideas, concepts, and inspiration by translating this design into your own home.  Whether it’s re-using that wedding dress you’ll never wear again, shopping in the kids section of IKEA, stenciling some inspiring words on your walls, or even matching wallpaper to fabric accents and upholstery; it’s time to have fun, introduce some WHIMSY, and think BIG!

So to the example, our inspiration; Hotel Maison Moschino. “…Located in a neoclassic railway station in Milan, the prestigious hotel Maison Moschino recreates with an atmosphere which draws inspiration from the fairy tales, the typical ironic and surreal style of the brand Moschino.” -Luceplan (Who also provided the lighting for this installation)

SO….What can we learn?

-Juxtaposition, Juxtaposition, Juxtaposition

-Interplay contrasting colours, fabrics, accents

-Feature whimsical or corky finds from travels, a personal collection or an heirloom

-Have fun with scale (the unexpected!)

-Repetition: make a grand statement!

-Use unconventional objects for practical uses

-Don’t forget to HAVE FUN!
