A new collection of textiles will soon be available at Ikea stores worldwide, but not just any collection- one inspired by Japanese culture and designed by only a 13-yesr old girl. Åsa Ekström, the artist, decided to become a “mangaka” which is a cartoonist inspired by the Japanese way of creating comic-strip drawings called Manga. Åsa explains “It’s filled with illustrative artifices that help mediate feelings in a direct and straightforward way.” The new CHARLOTTA line of textiles will be available in a wide variety of applications- its going to be interesting to see how the mass-market will react to this as for once in Ikea history there is a little bit more of a personal story behind this collection!
